Medication Policy
This policy ensures the safe storage, use, and management of medications within Buckeye Recovery Housing. These guidelines protect all residents and support a safe recovery environment.
Key Requirements
The following requirements apply to all medications in our recovery homes.
Secure Storage Required
All medications must be stored in designated, locked storage areas. Medications are not permitted in bedrooms, common areas, or personal belongings.
Valid Prescriptions Required
All medications must be accompanied by a valid, current prescription in the resident's name. Documentation may be required upon admission and periodically.
No Alcohol-Containing Medications
Over-the-counter medications containing alcohol are not permitted. Staff can help identify acceptable alternatives if needed.
- Keeping medications in bedrooms or personal areas
- Sharing medications with other residents
- Using medications not prescribed to you
- Altering, tampering with, or misusing medications
- Possessing medications without valid prescription documentation
- Over-the-counter medications containing alcohol
- Store all medications in designated locked storage
- Provide prescription documentation upon request
- Take medications only as prescribed
- Report any medication changes to staff
- Dispose of discontinued medications properly
- Notify staff if medications are lost or stolen
Policy Violations
Violations of this medication policy may result in disciplinary action, including possible discharge from the program. All violations are handled on a case-by-case basis, with consideration for the circumstances and any patterns of behavior.

Liability Notice
Buckeye Recovery Housing is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged medications. Residents are responsible for the security of their medications within the designated storage areas. We strongly recommend maintaining a current list of all medications with your healthcare provider.
